Oregon contractor license bonds are a contract in which a surety company promises the State of Oregon that a contractor will not commit any violation of Oregon contractor license law that is grounds for disciplinary action against the license. If the contractor does not comply with the conditions of the law, a claim can be filed with the surety company against the contractor’s bond. Claims against a surety company may be filed by any persons damaged by willful and/or deliberate violation of a construction contract, including homeowners or contractor employees. In the state of Oregon all licensed contractors must file a Oregon contractor’s license bond or cash deposit with the Registrar in the amount of $15,000 or $20,000.
